Easyspace launch .ASIA domain name extension

August 13, 2008

Easyspace, one of the largest web hosting and domain name providers in the UK, has this week added the new, and already popular, .ASIA domain name extension to its portfolio.

Having recently launched the highly anticipated .ME domain extension, this is the second high profile domain launched by Easyspace in the last month.

The .ASIA is a new Top Level Domain (TLD) enabling companies and individuals to show an online presence in the Asia / Pacific region. The domain provides a channel for businesses to expand by reaching out to some of the fastest growing economies in the world, a vast population and hundreds of millions of internet users in the ICANN designated Asia / Pacific countries.

Being regional specific, at least one of the associated contacts of the .ASIA domain name must be a legal entity in Asia. Assuming this requirement can be met, .ASIA domain names can be registered by individuals, organisations or companies.

“This is the second high profile domain extension we’ve launched in the last month, instantly increasing the variety of domain extension alternatives available to customers.” comments Errol Vanderhorst, Sales and Marketing Director for Easyspace.

“We recently launched .ME, which has continued to receive a lot of attention, so we’re hoping we can build on that success in letting people know we are now offering .ASIA.”

.ASIA domains can be registered through Easyspace for 2 years up to 10 years. To find out more, visit www.easyspace.com/domains.php

Easyspace launch .me domain name extension

July 21, 2008

Easyspace, one of the largest web hosting and domain name providers in the UK, has added the highly anticipated .me domain extension to its portfolio.

The rollout of the .me extension began back in March 2008, going through its Sunrise and Land Rush periods from May onwards before being officially launched for open registrations on Thursday 17th July on a first come first serve basis.

While the .me domain has been assigned as a Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) for Montenegro, it’s expected that its popularity will stretch to include use on personal websites and as a popular extension for marketing activities across the globe.

Easyspace is one of only a handful of UK based registrars already selling .me domain names and, inline with the requirements of the .me registry, domains can be registered for a minimum 2 year up to a maximum 10 year period.

“We’ve had a number of new extension launches in the recent past, including the likes of .mobi, and .eu, but most have come with some registration restrictions, such as location for .eu. With .me being open to absolutely everyone on a first come first serve, and with its obvious potential for personal users and marketing campaigns, I expect that its popularity will only grow in strength over the coming months.” commented Errol Vanderhorst, Sales and Marketing Director for Easyspace.

Easyspace currently offers all the popular domain extensions such as .com, .co.uk, .info, .eu, org and .net and more through its website, as well as an extensive selection of Country Code Domain names.

Easyspace offer 50% off .eu domain names

July 1, 2008

Easyspace today announced the launch of a .eu domain offer, following on from the popularity of the .biz and .net offers it has run in recent months.

Until 31st July, anyone buying a domain name with Easyspace will be able to purchase any number of .eu domain names for just £6.25 each for one year – a saving of 50% on the standard sale price of the domain!

This is the third consecutive month in which Easyspace has discounted some of the more popular extensions amongst domainers. Now, with 50% off .eu domains, this extension instantly becomes more accessible to those who haven’t yet looked at .eu domains as a viable alternative.

Previous offers have included 40% off .biz domains and, most recently, 50% off .net domains, both of which were met with a significant response.

The Easyspace domain offering has grown in recent times to include new domain functions, namely the premium domain auction search and the domain name keyword search, and already offers a huge number of domain extensions from the popular TLDs (.com, .net, .info etc) through to specific country code domains.

Regarding the latest offer, Errol Vanderhorst, Sales and Marketing Director for Easyspace, commented “Our 2 previous domain offers have gone down well with customers, particularly the 50% off .net domains. With that in mind we’ve decided to run a domain offer for a third consecutive month, this time offering 50% off .eu domains.”

All Easyspace.com domain registration come with web redirection, MX Control, Name Server Control, £100 Pay Per Click advertising credit and more.

.NU Domain Launches Numeric Domain Names

June 11, 2008

.nudomain

As of 10th June, .NU registry revised its policies and began accepting the registration of numeric domain names using number or dashes – such as such as 212.nu. 10-4.nu, or 3663.nu (the English word “food.nu” on a mobile phone keypad.)

Since 1997 .NU Domain’s policies have restricted the registration of number-only and number-with-hyphen domains. Last year, .NU Domain modified this policy slightly and began allowing the registration of 1- and 2-character numeric names as part of its launch of a Premium Domain Name service. But as of 10th June, with some exceptions, .nu is permitting general registration of any combination of numbers or numbers-with-hyphens.

There are two classes of numeric .nu domain names:

- Premium Numeric Names, comprised only of numeric names using three numbers or numbers in combination with a hyphen (1-4.nu)

- Standard Numeric Names, comprised of all other numeric and numeric-with-hyphen combinations up to 63 characters long.

Names that are five numeric characters long, which are commonly used as postal codes, and certain other numeric names of high public or private interest, including 888.nu, 411.nu, and others will not be released for registration during the June 10th 2008 Landrush period.

Every individual, business or organization worldwide is eligible to purchase a .NU domain name, so get your .nu domain name today!

About .NU domain name

.NU is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) assigned to the island state of Niue. It was one of the first ccTLDs to be marketed to the Internet at large as an alternative to the gTLDs .com, .net, and .org. Playing on the phonetic similarity between nu and new, it was promoted as a “new” TLD in which there was an abundance of good domain names available. However now most of the top .nu’s have been taken.

The domain is particularly popular in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium, as nu is the word for “now” in Swedish, Danish and Dutch. Partially owing to restrictive domain rules for the ccTLD assigned to Sweden, .se, .nu was used for creative marketing of websites such as www.TV.nu. However, the .se domain was generally considered more professional than .nu and .com. Registrations of Internationalized domain names and Unicode special characters are also allowed.
